Bed Rest Boredom Busters

When I was pregnant I spent a good amount of time on bed rest.  I started on partial bed rest in December after I had to go to the hospital because of preterm labor problems.  So at first I was just on partial bed rest.  I still went to work I just had to take it easy.  Then by the first or second week of January my doctor took me out of work.  To be honest I was pretty excited I assumed if I was home relaxing the contractions would stop.  I really thought it would be great just relaxing all day.  I thought I would be able to organize all of my sons things and get the house in order.  Well it did not quite happen that way.  I still had contractions for a good part of the day.  Even if I spent most of my time on my side.  I quickly went from being excited to being bored.  My son was born in March by c-section because of course after all those contractions he decided to come late anyway.  Here are some things to do for those of you who are on bed rest.
  • Read a book.  I ended up reading all the baby books we got even most of the baby's first year book.
  • Find a new TV series you like.  I never watched The Office prior to my bed rest but I spent many days watching office reruns on netflix.
  • Get small arm weights if your dr gives you the ok
  • Subscribe to as many magazines as you can!
  • Paint your nails and give yourself a manicure
  • Do your make up.  It will help you feel pretty after laying in bed all day
  • Give yourself a pedicure if you can reach your feet.
  • Try to invite over a friend to keep you company for a bit
  • Get a book of puzzles
  • If you are allowed to organize all of baby's things
  • Play your husband or boyfriends video games
  • Start a scrap book for baby
  • Write about everything you are feeling and going through.  It will help you vent and will be good to look back on.
For people who have been or are on bed rest what helps you pass the time?
